Recently my hilarious group of London friends were teasing me about my Lady Relocated alter ego and suggested I institute a weekly Q&A blog series like the “Dear Abby” advice columns we grew up reading. In the imaginary world where this happens I would be to London and European travel what Abby was to relationships and housecleaning tips. I doubled over with laughter at the thought of anyone posing questions to “Dear Lady Relocated…”
Then along came Meredith from Kaffee und Kuchen to turn my dreams into a temporary reality with the Liebster Award. Look who’s laughing now! I’m going to answer 5 of her questions and nominate some of my favorite bloggers to do the same. Feel free to preface every question with a silent “Dear Lady Relocated…”
1) What 3 items do you always pack on a trip?
Besides the boring basics like my passport and toothbrush, I consistently pack my camera, my iPad mini, and my running shoes with at least one workout outfit. The camera is obvious. The iPad has been a lifesaver for reading on flights, watching movies, doing trip research, and using offline travel apps. And even if I don’t always use the workout gear, I like to know it’s there. Exercise keeps me sane and running has helped me explore new cities in a unique way. I’ve run along the city walls of York, down the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, along the beaches of Nice, up and down the stairs of hilly Dubrovnik, and through the quiet morning streets of Budapest.
2) What is the best meal you’ve ever had and where did you have it?
La Margarita in Salem, OR where I’m from is my favorite. It’s no Michelin-starred restaurant but it’s authentic, mouth-watering Mexican food.
3) Where are you planning to go on your next trip?
Marrakech, Morocco is happening this Wednesday. Looking forward to it! Also in November I’m heading to Warsaw, Poland and Basel, Switzerland for 2 days each.
4) What’s your favorite blog post that you’ve written? Please share the link!
5) What are your hobbies?
Riding the tube and bus around London. Just kidding, but some days it feels like public transportation takes all my free time here outside of work. (1) Traveling to new destinations, (2) creating and tinkering with this blog and reading other expat blogs, and (3) anything active like running, working out, bicycling, hiking, skiing, or walking makes me happy.
Thanks Meredith for the nomination! Now I’d like to nominate these lovely ladies with the same questions:
