July saw summer in full swing here in London. More often than not the sun was out and I left the house sans brolly (umbrella) or jumper (sweater). I had two fabulous coworkers stay at Casa J for a few nights on separate visits and saw two musicals in the West End. The only problem is how quickly the summer months are passing by, I’m just hanging on for dear life savoring every moment of sunshine and late night daylight.
I could get used to Europe in the summer. After June’s visit to the south coast of France I stuck to the beach trend by traveling to the Spanish island of Mallorca in July. And coming up in August…(drumroll)…Croatia! So have no fear, I’m getting my vitamin D while I can in this continent.
This is how I spent July:
Singing in the
Rain West End
I have been dying to see The Book of Mormon and it lived up to the hype. I was humming along to the soundtrack the rest of the week. I also saw Wicked and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Took a spin around Mallorca
I rented a car and drove for the first time in 9 months around the island of Mallorca to explore everything from its capital of Palma to the sleepy resort town of Soller. And survived! Full story here.

If you’re traveling to London for the first time check out my advice for a brilliant visit in this guide. Hopefully it will save you from wasting your precious vacation time deciding between all the London attractions.
Joined a bike gang
A bicycle gang, that is. I finally worked up the courage to brave the streets of London by bike and purchased a cheap commuter bike. This photo was from my first day riding into work – not staged, this was a live shot taken by my coworker using his camera phone while riding. Not recommended for home, kids. Wish me luck avoiding the taxis and double decker buses! Kidding, it’s totally safe Mom.
Bring it on, August!
