The longer I live outside the U.S.A the more patriotic I become. There are so many amazing things about America. I knew I was lucky to be born an American citizen but I didn’t really get it until I elected myself out of the country temporarily for this expat experience. Most days I try not to compare and contrast my past home with my current home or I’ll miss out on enjoying the unique experience that is living abroad. However, today I’m giving myself a hall pass to embrace my homeland and wear my red, white, and blue proudly. High five to you, America!
The photo above is from earlier this morning at my office. In an office of 80+ British and European colleagues us Americans have to stick together. We took a break for a team photo on the rooftop deck of our building. USA! USA!
Tonight I’ll be joining a few other American friends for Southern-style BBQ at Duke’s Brew & Que. Yes I will be stuffing my face with ribs and hamburgers.
If you’re in London here’s a roundup of ideas to celebrate in style. If you’re in the good ‘ol US of A I’m expecting you to eat my share of berry cobbler, hot dogs, corn-on-the-cob, and potato salad. Happy 4th of July!
