Since it’s midway through May I thought I would sneak in an April recap. Holy moly I’m almost halfway through my 18 month assignment in London! A year ago I felt like this chance to live in London was a long shot. The work approval process was dragging on and I couldn’t imagine that I would ever actually pack up and move here. It was just fun to fill out visa paperwork and have goodbye parties for myself so I went through the motions, what can I say?
Now I’m here and I’ve been here seven full months. April was my best month yet because my sister was here for 21 fabulous days. March was a tough month to beat because I also had family visitors (Aunt Alice and crew, woot woot!) plus my Seattle buddy Zahra. I’ve been on a great streak. A brutal reality check is anticipated tomorrow when I step into the London office for the first time in three weeks. It has all been so worth it though. Here’s how April went down…
Traveled to Madrid for a work trip
Although it was work-related, I managed to sneak in an afternoon of sightseeing since I hadn’t been to Madrid since 2005. I practiced my Spanish, ate Tortilla Española, and toured the Palacio Real (Royal Palace).
Backstreet Boys Concert in London
Yes, this happened. I can confirm Nick is still the cutest. As if I didn’t already feel old, it was their 20th year reunion concert.
Laura’s visit included lots of highlights in London and finished with a week long trip to Belgium and Copenhagen (photos to come soon). We saw the musical Once, toured the British Museum, ate Indian food on Brick Lane, day tripped to Cambridge, and enjoyed Afternoon Champagne Tea like bosses (I mean ladies) at a posh hotel.
Second trip back to the USA and first time back in 6 months
I was able to spend the last week of April in Seattle. I ate copious amounts of sushi and Mexican food and shopped my heart out at Nordstrom. The best part was seeing family and friends after work and on the weekend. I was having so much fun I didn’t take a single photo. Here are the shoes I bought at Nordstrom instead:
I’m so excited to share photos from Belgium, Copenhagen, and Stockholm this past weekend. Wish me luck back at work tomorrow. I’m going to need it!
