I recently shared my Eiffel Tower moment, and wanted to share one of my other favorite Paris memories in the form of photos. Ever since my days of watching too much reality TV back in Seattle, I’ve been familiar with the love locks couples place on bridges. After all, Kyle and Mauricio of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills placed a love lock on a bridge in Paris – so obviously I should too. Besides the fact that it’s a trendy thing to do, it’s also a nice sentiment. I’ve heard mixed messages about the meaning of love locks, some say it guarantees you’ll return to Paris while others believe it symbolizes a lifetime of love. But let’s not get too lovey-dovey, I don’t want anyone to gag while reading this. Here’s how it went down:
Besides the Pont des Arts bridge there are several other bridges with locks around Paris and around the world. I read on this Paris travel blog, “There are two bridges in Paris with the locks, you must be very careful which bridge you put your lock on because Pont des Arts is for your committed love, while Pont de l’Archevêché is for your lover.” When I explained this to Tim he quickly replied, “well we should put a lock on both bridges then!” Now I’ve gone too far, somewhere in Portland my sister just gagged reading this.
